What Is Memory Care?

If your loved one is suffering from Alzheimers or Dementia, you need to consider our Memory Care unit. Our specially trained staff is on hand 24/7 as these residents require a special amount of care. Our secure memory care facilities are designed to keep them safe and happy. We provide medication assistance, memory stimulation activities, an enclosed courtyard, and an individualized plan of care. A thorough assessment is needed to determine if your loved one needs this type of care.

Is Assisted Living Different From A Nursing Home?

Yes, although many times the terms are often confused or used incorrectly. Nursing homes and assisted living facilities are different in a few key ways. Assisted living is designated for individuals who need help with daily life skills such as bathing, hygiene, meal preparation, shopping, driving, paying bills, mobility, and transferring from a chair to a bed or shower. One person must be able to assist with weight transfer, with the cooperation of the patient. If more than one person is required to care for the individual’s needs, you may be seeking a nursing home.

Nursing homes are intended for seniors who need far more medical care and supervision; like requiring two people to fully lift them to transfer from a bed to a wheelchair or shower, full 24-hour medical care, feeding, and a more intense set of needs to be managed.

What Is The Cost Of Assisted Living?

The cost of assisted living care depends upon the needs of your senior family member. Some individuals require more care than others. We will do a free in-home care assessment to find out exactly what kind of assistance is required. Our monthly rent, amenities, and care service fees are all inclusive when we quote you a price. The monthly cost may include:

  • Rent & Utilities
  • 24 Hour Nursing Staff
  • Medication Management
  • Personal Care & Hygiene Assistance
  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry Services
  • Full Dining: Meals & Snacks
  • Activities, Outings & Entertainment
  • Foot Care Clinic
  • Beauty Salon Services
  • Memory Care (Dementia & Alzheimers)

How Can Families Afford Assisted Living?

Many families are shocked to find out that the care their loved one requires is not covered by their health insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare.

There are several ways you can accumulate funds to pay for assisted living.

  • Your family member can use their income from social security or other pensions, a personal retirement fund, or their savings account.
  • You can also use the money from the sale of the family home, other investments, or the settlement of a life insurance policy.
  • Family members can join together to cover the cost of the care needed.
  • Qualifying individuals may apply for assistance from Utah’s New Choices Waiver Program, or if they are a veteran they may be eligible for VA assistance.

Does Medicare Cover Assisted Living?

Unfortunately, Medicare doesn’t cover the cost of assisted living. If a person with Medicare requires (and is eligible for) more care than an assisted living facility provides, they may qualify for financial assistance. Medicare will only pay for care in Medicare-certified nursing home facilities or hospice agencies. It will not cover care in a continuing care retirement community or assisted living community.

Are There Any Assistance Programs?

Yes, there are a couple options for financial assistance, although the requirements are very stringent.

While we can’t guarantee approval, we participate in Medicaid’s New Choices Waiver Program in Utah. This financial assistance is designed to serve people who meet nursing facility level of care and who have been residing long term in a nursing facility or assisted living facility.

We also offer financial assistance through the Aid and Attendance Program, a non-service connected benefit for veterans or their surviving spouse whose medical expenses exceed their income and who need regular help with activities of daily living.

When Is The Appropriate Time For Assisted Living?

Caring for an aging family member can come at a high financial and mental cost, especially if they are suffering from something as complicated as Alzheimer’s or Dementia. A lot of time caregivers find themselves experiencing stress and illness due to the burden of providing in-home health care. If your loved one’s health needs become too difficult to handle at home, you may want to consider an assisted living facility.

What Makes PeachTree Place Different From Other Communities?

There are no other assisted living facilities in the area who have a Nurse (RN) on staff 24 hours a day. Other competitors have CNAs that do the state assessments and daily care, and a nurse signs off on it with little oversight. Nurses may only be on site once a week at other communities. Here at PeachTree Place Assisted Living Community, we have a very high staff-to-patient ratio, meaning there are more staff and caretakers coming together and they are able to spend more time with each resident.

We provide a sense of independence and security unmatched by our competitors. With community activities and specialized care plans, PeachTree Place Assisted Living Community takes the stress out caring for an aging loved one. Contact us today for more information; we look forward to hearing from you.
